Ghana has secured the right to host the landmark 70th Session of the UN Tourism Commission for Africa (CAF) in 2027, following a successful bid approved during the 69th Session of the Commission held in Seychelles.
The prestigious event will coincide with Ghana’s 70th Independence Anniversary, providing a unique opportunity for the country to welcome Africa’s tourism leaders, policymakers, investors and industry stakeholders.
The conference is expected to showcase Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, vibrant creative arts, renowned hospitality and diverse tourism attractions while reinforcing the country’s status as one of Africa’s leading destinations for heritage, cultural and diaspora tourism.
Presenting Ghana’s successful bid, the Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Hon. Abla Dzifa Gomashie, highlighted the government’s commitment to positioning tourism as a key driver of sustainable development, economic transformation, cultural exchange and African integration.
According to the Minister, hosting the 2027 Commission session aligns with Ghana’s broader vision of leveraging tourism and the creative economy to generate jobs, attract investment and strengthen regional cooperation across the continent.
