Roger Federer, a tennis legend, has been officially inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame, solidifying his status as one of the sport’s best players.
On Saturday, August 29, 2026, in Newport, Rhode Island, the 45-year-old Swiss icon, and journalist and broadcaster Mary Carillo were inducted. Federer battled back tears multiple times during his acceptance speech, making the ceremony an emotional one for him.
After an incredible career that included 20 Grand Slam singles wins, 103 ATP Tour titles, and 310 weeks as the world’s top player, Federer announced his retirement from professional tennis in 2022. In addition, he has won eight Wimbledon men’s singles titles and topped the rankings for a record 237 weeks in a row.
Federer reflected on his path from an adolescent ball boy in Basel, Switzerland, to one of the most renowned players in the world during his moving address, describing the entry as one of the biggest honors of his life.
He also honored his friends, family, teammates, coaches, medical staff, and competitors who helped him along the way. The tennis legend was visibly moved by his wife, Mirka Federer, who presented him at the event and gave a heartfelt homage.
