Kwamena Duncan, a leading member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has launched a sharp critique of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing the party of thriving on “lies, deception and corruption” whenever it assumes power.
Speaking on the morning show of Peace FM on Wednesday, April 8, Duncan said the current political developments in Ghana do not surprise him, arguing that similar patterns have emerged during previous NDC administrations.
According to him, the NPP has consistently warned Ghanaians about what he described as the governing style of the NDC, insisting that the party’s track record in power has often been marked by dishonesty and questionable conduct.
“I am not surprised about what is going on in Ghana now,” Duncan stated during the discussion. “Any time the NDC comes to power, it becomes a cycle of lies, deception and corruption. That has always been their pattern.”
The former Central Regional Minister under the NPP administration maintained that the opposition party has historically relied on misleading narratives to win public support. He argued that once in office, those narratives are often exposed.

Duncan further urged Ghanaians to critically examine the political history of the country and assess the performance of both major parties over the years. In his view, such reflection would help voters make informed decisions about the country’s leadership.
His comments come amid ongoing political debates and heightened scrutiny of governance and accountability in Ghana’s public space including the LGBTQ issues.
While NPP sympathizers argue that Duncan’s comments highlight legitimate concerns about governance, critics from the NDC side have dismissed the remarks as partisan rhetoric typical of Ghana’s highly competitive political landscape.
