Media personality Omanhene Kwabena Asante has sparked fresh debate over Ghana’s political culture following a strongly worded critique of individuals he claims wield influence around the presidency.

In a discussion program on Asempa FM, Kwabena Asante did not hold back in expressing what he described as deep frustration with the current state of leadership and public discourse.

According to him, there are “bootlickers, sycophants and blackmailers” surrounding President John Dramani Mahama, a situation he believes is negatively impacting governance and national development.

He argued that Ghana is facing growing challenges not only because of economic or policy issues, but also due to what he sees as a decline in truth and principled leadership. In his view, individuals who should be offering honest counsel to those in power are instead prioritizing loyalty and personal gain.

Kwabena Asante further lamented that many influential personalities across the country have adopted what he described as a culture of sycophancy, warning that such behavior comes at a significant cost to Ghana’s growth.

“With the way things are going, truth is becoming rare, and principles are fading,” he suggested, stressing that the country risks stagnation if honest voices continue to be sidelined.

His remarks, delivered with visible anger and concern, add to ongoing conversations about accountability, governance, and the role of influential figures in shaping national direction.

As discussions continue, the issue of leadership integrity and the need for candid advice within political circles remains a central theme in Ghana’s evolving democratic landscape.
